How do benchtop water distillers work?

Benchtop water distillers allow you to take control of your water supply, protect your expensive dental equipment and ensure patient safety. Our HS Water Distiller heats water to 100°C in a stainless-steel boiling chamber, killing any bacteria, cysts and viruses that may be present.

As the water temperature rises, low boiling, light gases are expelled through the gaseous vent. Steam rises leaving behind dissolved solids, salts, and all other contaminants. The steam is then condensed in a stainless-steel coil, and the water is collected in a four-litre storage bottle. Our distiller can produce approximately 4 litres of distilled water in 3.5 hours (even faster when filled with warmer water).

Some of the benefits of benchtop water distillers include:

  • Pure steam distilled water produces higher quality water consistently.
  • Distilled water is a fraction of the cost of bottled water, saving you thousands of dollars annually.
  • Unlike tap water, all particles are removed, leaving no residue that might clog your equipment. This means that you can enjoy longer equipment lifespans and less money spent on repairs.
  • Small size makes them easily transportable – you can install them on any benchtop with ease.

Is distilled water just for autoclaves?

Distilled water can be used for so much more than autoclaves. Many dentists don’t realise how valuable distilled water is for a wide range of uses around the clinic. You can use it to clean instruments, disinfect and scrub your hands, wipe down your countertops and consultation desks, clean and soak lab coats, and so much more.
